Quality Management – ISO 9000

The ISO 9000 family addresses various aspects of quality management and contains some of ISO’s best known standards.  The standards provide guidance and tools for companies and organisations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer’s requirements and that quality is consistently improved.

Standards in the ISO 9000 family include ISO 9001:2015 which sets out the requirements of a quality management system or QMS. ISO 9000:2015 covers the basic concepts and language. Whilst ISO 9000:2009 focuses on how to make a quality management system more efficient and effective. ISO 19011:2011 sets out guidance on internal and external audits of quality management systems.

ISO 9001:2015 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and is the only standard in the family that can be certified to (although this is not a requirement).  It can be used by an organisation, large or small, regardless of its field of activity.  In fact, there are over one million companies and organisations, in over 170 countries, certified to ISO 9001.

This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. Using ISO 9001:2015 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits.

Environmental Management – ISO 14000

The ISO 14000 family of standards provides practical tools for companies and organisations of all kinds looking to manage their environmental responsibilities.

ISO 14001:2015 and its supporting standards such as ISO 14006:2011 focus on environmental systems to achieve this.  The other standards in the family focus on specific approaches such as audits, communications, labelling and life cycle analysis, as well as environmental challenges such as climate change.

Health and Safety Management – OHSAS 18001

OHSAS 18001 is the internationally recognised standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.  By implementing its best-practice processes you can help your company identify and control its health and safety risks.

Achieving OHSAS 18001 certification demonstrates that your company is committed to reducing accidents, complying with the law and improving its overall health and safety performance.  This can lead to increased employee, customer and stakeholder confidence in your management systems.  It can also enhance your company’s brand and give you a competitive advantage.

Occupational Health and Safety – ISO 45001

The standard is currently being developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts. It will follow other generic management system approaches such as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.  Other international standards in this area such as OHSAS 18001 will also be taken into account.

Global Standard for Food Safety – BRC

The Global Standard for Food Safety was developed by food industry experts and first published in 1998. The British Retail Consortium (BRC) provides a framework to manage product safety, integrity, legality and quality, and the operational controls for these criteria in the food and food ingredient manufacturing, processing and packing industry.

General Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for Cosmetics – IS0 22716

ISO 22716 is the standard describing the Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practices. Written in collaboration with the cosmetics industry it promotes best-in-class methods. The scope of ISO 22716 is not only limited to production activities but also includes control, storage and distribution.

“We enlisted the services of Hunter Global several years ago. The business was progressing from a sole trader to employing 5/6 staff. With the guidance from Jo we were able to transition from a sole trader with little staff to a limited company employing 15 full time staff. HG have guided us throughout the many processes, policies and procedures and continues to ensure that we are compliant as new rules and regulations are released. Thus allowing senior management more time to focus on nurturing the business.”
